The Historiador 1519 is a limited edition of 500 created to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the founding of Havana - Havana was founded in 1519. This GMT watch is deep in symbolism, on the face there is an inner dial with a gold colored key, this is a second twenty four hour timezone - perfect feature for the gentleman traveller that wants to keep an eye on the time at home as he travels the world - where the key marks the time. The key is a recreation of the “Key to Havana” featured on the city’s flag.

As is customary with Cuervo y Sobrinos, the 1519 features a sapphire crystal back that shows off the automatic movement beautifully. Cuervo y Sobrinos created a special movement based on the ETA 2983, the rotor is decorated with the three historic castles of Havana’s harbor that are also featured on the city’s flag.

The general design is art déco inspired, again this is classic Cuervo y Sobrinos, a tribute to the brand’s golden age in the 1920’s and 30’s. the Breguet style minute and hour hands give an elegant first impression and the watch is full of fine details.
